Bethany Parker, Secondary English Education, Kansas State University
I am currently a student attending Kansas State University. My major is Secondary Education with English as my subject area. I am currently working toward becoming certified in Technology, ESL, and Public Speaking.
I have been employed at Boys and Girls Club of Manhattan as a reading interventionist through a grant called Kansas Reading Roadmaps. I spend my time there mentoring club members and teaching them valuable reading and writing skills.
I grew up in a small town in Northwest Kansas, Hill City, as an only child with two teachers as parents. This sparked an interest in learning and teaching from a very young age.
In my free time, I enjoy being creative through ceramics, fashion, writing, and design.
Some of my longterm goals include getting my PhD, publishing a book, and becoming a college professor.
I am also incredibly interested in the integration of technology into the classroom. MOOC's are a very important part of my journey as a lifelong learner. I'm also in the process of learning how to code through Java.
